Product Overview

The Allen-Bradley SST-PFB-SLC is a PROFIBUS DP scanner module designed for SLC 500 series PLCs, enabling seamless integration with PROFIBUS networks. It allows SLC 5/03 (or higher) processors to communicate with PROFIBUS DP remote I/O devices, supporting up to 96 slave devices with 244 bytes of input/output data per slave.

1. PROFIBUS DP Master/Slave Support

   • Functions as a DP master, scanning up to 96 slave devices with 244 bytes of I/O data per slave.

   • Can also operate as a DP slave when interfacing with other PROFIBUS masters.

2. Flexible Configuration & Storage

   • Stores configuration in onboard flash memory, eliminating the need for reconfiguration after power cycles.

   • Configurable via SST Profibus Config Tool or Siemens COM PROFIBUS software.

3. Enhanced Data Handling

   • 2064 bytes of input/output data space (later models like SST-PB3-SLC).

   • M0 & M1 data areas expanded to 1000 words (compared to earlier versions).

4. Easy Integration with SLC 500

   • Direct backplane installation in SLC 500 chassis (Slot 0 reserved for CPU).

   • Independent I/O scanning—PROFIBUS communication runs separately from SLC logic scans.

5. Diagnostics & Maintenance

   • LED indicators for system and network status monitoring.

   • 9-pin serial port for firmware updates and configuration uploads.
