Product Overview
The ABB TU813 Compact Modular Terminal Unit is a compact modular terminal unit specifically designed for the S800 I/O system. It plays a key role in connecting field wiring and I/O modules in the field of industrial automation. As a passive unit, it provides reliable connection nodes for field signals and process power supplies, and is also an important part of the module bus, ensuring stable transmission of data and power within the system, and helping to build an efficient and stable automated control architecture.
Structure and Design
  • Compact Layout: Adopting a compact design concept, it has a small size and can realize high-density I/O module installation in limited control cabinet space, effectively saving space. It is especially suitable for industrial environments with strict space requirements, such as small automated production lines and field cabinets of distributed control systems.
  • Connection Method: Equipped with three rows of crimp-type plug-in connectors for connecting field signals and process power supplies. This crimping connection method is not only easy to operate, enabling quick completion of wiring work, but also firm and reliable, maintaining stable connection in harsh industrial environments with vibration and impact, reducing the risk of signal interruption or electrical failure caused by loose connections.
  • Mechanical Configuration: There are two mechanical keys for mechanical configuration of different types of I/O modules. Each key has six positions, and up to 36 different configuration modes can be achieved through combination. This mechanical configuration method is simple and intuitive, and will not affect the functions of the MTU or I/O modules, ensuring that different modules can be accurately adapted during installation and maintenance, reducing the possibility of equipment damage or system failure caused by incorrect installation. At the same time, mechanical configuration can also prevent the insertion of wrong types of I/O modules, playing a certain role in preventing misoperation.
  • Installation Method: It adopts DIN rail mounting, which can be conveniently and quickly installed on standard DIN rails. And it is equipped with a DIN rail locking device for grounding, ensuring that the entire unit is reliably connected to the grounding system during equipment operation, effectively avoiding equipment failures caused by static accumulation, electrical interference and other factors, and ensuring the safety and stability of the system.

  • Rated Voltage and Current: The maximum rated voltage is 250V, which can adapt to the access of field signals of various industrial standard voltage levels. The maximum rated current of each channel is 3A, which can meet the power supply requirements of common field equipment such as sensors and actuators, ensuring stable operation of the equipment within the normal working range.

At the same time, it should be kept away from strong electromagnetic interference sources such as large motors and electric welders. When connecting field signals and process power supplies, attention should be paid to distinguishing positive and negative polarities to ensure correct wiring. For different types of signals (such as analog signals and digital signals), wiring should be separated as much as possible to reduce mutual interference between signals.
  • Configuration Check: After installing a new I/O module or adjusting the mechanical key configuration, it is necessary to carefully check whether the configuration is correct to ensure that the TU813 and the I/O module can communicate and work together normally. The connection status and signal transmission can be tested through the system's own diagnostic tools or related software to find and solve potential problems in a timely manner.
  • Regular Maintenance: Regularly inspect the TU813 to check for loose or oxidized connectors, and handle them in a timely manner if there are problems. At the same time, regularly clean the dust on the surface of the equipment to prevent dust accumulation from affecting the heat dissipation and electrical performance of the equipment.
