The ABB AFS670 is an industrial-grade 19″ rack or cabinet (or wall-mountable) managed Ethernet switch, part of the ABB AFS family. It is engineered for power substations, automation systems, industrial networks and other demanding environments—offering robust, stable and secure network communication for industrial-grade applications.

Choose the appropriate port types (copper vs fiber vs SFP) based on network architecture and plan redundant protocols (MRP / E-MRP / RSTP) if high availability is required.
When using optical fiber connections, ensure SFP modules are compatible with the switch and handle with care when inserting/removing to avoid damage.
If PoE is used, verify the power supply and load requirements — ensure power budget is sufficient for attached devices.
For harsh environments (e.g. high EMI, moisture, vibration, dust), select models with reinforced housing and wide-temperature rating, and ensure proper grounding and shielding.
Implement network security measures — VLAN segmentation, port authentication, password management, access control, logging and monitoring — especially in critical infrastructure or utility applications.
